InDesign Tip of the Day - Transferring Fonts

CATEGORIES: InDesign, Instructor Tips

Quite frequently, I hear a student say, “The font I used for my InDesign document isn’t in this version of InDesign.” When asked if the student also got a new computer, the answer is always, “yes.” Did you know fonts are stored on your computer and not in InDesign? When you get a new computer, remember to transfer your fonts as well as your documents! Another thing you can do in InDesign is to go to File > Package to create a folder that contains your InDesign documents, all of the images, and all of the fonts as well as an information file called instructions.txt. That way when you reopen your document on a different computer years from now, all the components will be in one folder.
